Abstract
The exploration and utilization of outer space have entered a new era, with increasing involvement from both governmental and private entities. However, this expansion brings with it significant challenges, particularly regarding sustainability. This article explores the role of legal measures in promoting sustainable development in outer space activities. It delves into the existing legal framework governing outer space, analyzes its strengths and weaknesses, and proposes enhancements to ensure sustainable practices. By examining international treaties, national legislation, and emerging norms, this essay aims to provide insights into how legal instruments can effectively promote sustainable development in outer space endeavors.
