Abstract

Data mining, discovering patterns and insights from large datasets, has become a cornerstone of modern analytics and decision-making. However, integrating data mining into various applications raises significant security and privacy concerns. This paper explores the multifaceted security issues associated with data mining, focusing on recent advancements and ongoing challenges. Key areas of concern include privacy threats such as data leakage and the limitations of anonymization techniques, adversarial attacks targeting model integrity through methods like poisoning and inversion attacks, and ethical issues related to bias and fairness. Additionally, the paper addresses the implications of regulatory compliance, including adherence to data protection laws like GDPR and CCPA. Emerging solutions such as differential privacy, secure multi-party computation, and homomorphic encryption are examined for their effectiveness in mitigating these issues. The paper also highlights the importance of robust model security and the growing role of decentralized data management approaches.
