Abstract

In today’s ever-evolving travel landscape, the concept of sustainable hospitality has emerged as a cornerstone for the long-term success of hotels and tourism companies. Sustainable hospitality has become a vital approach for the success of hotels and tourism companies for the long term, in the constantly changing landscape of the travel industry. The research paper discusses how green practices can be implemented in the hospitality sector and what are the consequences of their adoption on operational efficiency, customers’ satisfaction, brand reputation and financial sustainability. The research design for the study is mixed-method, combining quantitative data from the hospitality performance reports and various sustainability indicators with qualitative data obtained from the structured interviews and customer feedback obtained from the hotel managers, employees and guests. The results show that the hospitality enterprises that have introduced sustainable measures, like energy efficient systems, water saving initiatives, waste management, renewable energy, eco-friendly amenities and sustainable procurement, have substantial long-term economic and environmental returns. Other barriers to the implementation of sustainable practices in hospitality businesses also illustrate the differences between large urban properties and smaller and rural properties, such as high implementation costs, lack of awareness and access to green technologies. These obstacles do not, however, diminish the impact sustainable practices can have on lower operating costs, better customer retention and positioning, or meeting new environmental laws and standards. In addition, there is a growing trend of customers being more interested in sustainable and eco-friendly hotels, especially among younger and international guests who appreciate sustainability as an integral part of their travel. The paper also highlights strategic frameworks and policy recommendations that can promote broader implementation of green practices in the hospitality industry, such as incentives for the government, sustainability certifications, employee training programmes and investments in eco-innovation.
