Abstract
Emotional intelligence is now a crucial component of organizational management for the present as it enables the manager to comprehend the emotions, interact with the employee and make effective decisions in a complex organizational environment. The present research paper aims to discuss the role of emotional intelligence and its impact on the managerial decision making effectiveness, while explaining the role of emotional awareness, self-regulation, empathy, emotional motivation and interpersonal skills in the managerial decision making process and impact on the organizational outcomes. A mixed-method research design has been used, in which quantitative data has been gathered using a structured questionnaire to measure the emotional intelligence levels and effectiveness in decision making of the respondents, while qualitative data has been gathered by conducting interviews with the manager respondents regarding their experiences and decision making approaches. The results suggest that the managers who have higher emotional intelligence have better decision making skills, which means they can easily control their stress, objectively assess the situation, and understand different opinions and perspectives to give a balanced solution. The findings also show that emotional intelligence boosts the effectiveness of the leader in his/her communication, strengthening the relationship in the workplace and adapting the responses to challenges at the workplace. But the study also identifies some challenges that hinder the development and implementation of emotional intelligence in the workplace, such as pressure at work, lack of emotional awareness and lack of leadership development programs. Furthermore, the results indicate that there is a potential to enhance managerial performance through a managerial development program that incorporates emotional intelligence development into leadership training, professional development, and human resource management programs. It is emphasized in this research that emotional intelligence is very important to the development of effective managerial decision making and to the development of more collaborative, resilient and productive organizational environments.
