Abstract

Information technology leads to changes every day. The explosion of information leads to a Knowledge society that is growing more dependent, complicated, and competitive. All are drawn to the more intricate, competitive, and reliant. All are drawn to the necessity of e-information services for users. E-learning has impacted all aspects of library and information services in university libraries. Library professionals in the knowledge-based society face new opportunities and challenges, such as electronic publishing, multimedia publishing, and information services based on the Internet—global collaboration, online resources available online, and more. Librarians are accountable for deciding on and organizing the resources and guiding users to find and preserve information, regardless of format or technology. Library professionals must be able to create a Networked Library and Information Centre to provide timely, web-based, quality information to users in the electronic environment.
