Abstract
Colonialism and post-colonialism are critical frameworks for understanding historical and contemporary global structures. Colonialism refers to the political, economic, and cultural domination of one nation over another, often leading to long-term socio-political and economic consequences. Post-colonialism, as both a theoretical and historical lens, examines the lasting impact of colonial rule, including issues of identity, resistance, and cultural hybridity. This paper reexamines the historical contexts of colonialism, analyzing its ideological justifications, economic motives, and cultural impositions. It also explores post-colonial responses, such as nationalist movements, decolonization processes, and the reassertion of indigenous identities. The discourse further engages with the role of literature, historiography, and critical theories in reshaping narratives about colonial encounters. By reassessing historical contexts, this study highlights the complexities of colonial legacies and their enduring influence on modern socio-political structures.
