Abstract

Science-technology convergence is a big change in today’s world. The solution of such problems as climate change, public health emergencies, the need for sustainable energy, and digital change requires integrated multi‑disciplinary activity. For this reason, traditional subject boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred. This chapter provides a clear, timely review of science-technology convergence, with a focus on its concepts, the technological driving forces, pervasive applications, implications for education and institutions, ethical considerations, and directions for future research. Particular attention is given to enabling technologies which facilitate acceleration of knowledge and impact in the real world-such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, advanced computing, and digital infrastructure. Based on recent academic literature from 2020 to 2025, the chapter provides a comprehensive, academically sound, and policy-relevant perspective for researchers, educators, and policymakers.
