Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce has significant environmental and social implications, necessitating the adoption of sustainable business models and social responsibility practices. This study investigates the current state of sustainable e-commerce practices, exploring the adoption of sustainable business models, social responsibility initiatives, and the challenges faced by e-businesses. A quantitative research approach was employed, surveying 120 e-businesses across small, medium, and large-scale enterprises in the B2B and B2C sectors. The results indicate significant differences in the adoption of sustainable business practices between small, medium, and large e-businesses, as well as between B2B and B2C sectors. The study identifies renewable energy sources, energy-efficient data centers, sustainable packaging, and carbon offsetting as key sustainable business practices adopted by e-businesses. This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge on sustainable e-commerce practices, highlighting the need for e-businesses to prioritize sustainability and social responsibility in their operations. The study’s recommendations provide a foundation for future research and practice, aiming to create a more sustainable and responsible e-commerce industry.
