Abstract
This study explores the ethnomedicinal knowledge of Bubhan Hill and East-Sonai in Assam’s Cachar district, preserved by the late Maulana Anwar Hussain Laskar, a traditional healer (Kabiraj) known for his effective use of endemic plants, such as Clerodendrum infortunatum and guava buds, to treat ailments like chronic dysentery. A total of 60 plant species from different families were documented, primarily used for gastrointestinal, respiratory, and dermatological conditions. Key plants like Phlogacanthus jenkinsii, Centella asiatica, and Enhydra fluctuans demonstrated to have potent bioactive constituents. This research highlights the significance of conserving traditional knowledge and integrating it with modern pharmacology for sustainable healthcare solutions.
