Abstract:
The chapter begins by acknowledging that family businesses are inherently patriarchal and that women have historically been excluded from leadership roles. Going on to more recent shifts, it emphasises how women are gaining traction as future leaders and heirs. In this chapter, we will look at real-life examples and statistics to see how women face discrimination and sexism when they want to be the boss in their family business. When it comes to passing the family company on to female heirs, this chapter reiterates the importance of mentorship, education, and support networks.
