Abstract
The Ozone layer is a fragile shield of gas protecting Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation. It is occur in the stratosphere of the atmosphere. It protects the Earth from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. The Montreal Protocol is a landmark agreement is widely regarded as one of the most successful international environmental protocol. The role of youth has become increasingly prominent in the protection of the environment. Several initiatives and projects demonstrate the active involvement of youth in ozone layer protection viz. youth for ozone, international ozone day , Youth competitions & student research projects. Indian government made some policies & initiatives for controlling of ozone depletion layer. These plans are National Ozone Depleting Substances Phase-out Plan (NODS), Hydro Chloro Fluoro Carbon (HCFC) Phase-out Plan & India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The Indian government made strong legislations for controlling of ozone layer depletion (OLD) which corporate with international rules and regulation: Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Ozone Depleting Substances (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 & Montreal Protocol Implementation Rules, 2017. The Indian youth play a vital and strong role to controlling the ozone layer depletion.
