Abstract

This paper examines the crucial role of intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) in shaping international space law. IGOs, such as the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), have been instrumental in developing treaties, guidelines, and principles that govern space activities. The paper discusses the key contributions of IGOs, including treaty development, norm development, dispute resolution, capacity building, and coordination. It also addresses the challenges faced by IGOs in adapting to emerging technologies and ensuring effective governance and enforcement of international space law.
