Abstract
The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem has brought about unprecedented levels of connectivity and automation across various industries and everyday life. However, this surge in interconnected devices has also created a complex and increasingly vulnerable landscape, exposing IoT networks to a wide range of cybersecurity threats. This paper explores the current threat landscape in the IoT ecosystem, highlighting the most prevalent risks, such as Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, data breaches, unauthorized access, and firmware vulnerabilities. It also examines the inherent vulnerabilities within the IoT ecosystem, stemming from issues like weak device design, lack of standardization, and complex network architectures. Furthermore, the paper discusses the profound impact of IoT cybersecurity breaches on the economy, reputation, and societal infrastructure. Finally, it outlines strategies for securing the IoT ecosystem, including the implementation of security best practices, the role of regulatory frameworks, the potential of emerging technologies like AI and blockchain, and the importance of collaborative security efforts among stakeholders.
