Abstract

Women’s economic empowerment is essential for fostering sustainable development and reducing gender inequalities, especially in terms of the gender wage gap. Despite significant strides in gender equality, women continue to face disparities in earnings across various sectors, primarily due to social, cultural, and institutional barriers. This paper examines the pathways toward closing the gender wage gap, focusing on the importance of policy reforms, workplace equity, education, and access to leadership positions. Key strategies include promoting equal pay legislation, enhancing access to skills training, advocating for flexible working arrangements, and fostering a supportive work culture that values diversity. Additionally, the role of social norms, collective action, and men’s involvement in gender equality are considered crucial in shifting societal attitudes. The paper concludes by highlighting the need for multi-faceted approaches that combine governmental policy changes with grassroots initiatives to empower women economically and ensure equal pay for equal work.
