Abstract
The result has shown that cultural heritages are essential in boosting destination branding by making the destination unique, authentic and have cultural identity. The areas that are able to retain and develop their historic buildings, traditional culture, local arts, festivals and indigenous culture are more likely to successfully promote their area as a unique and memorable destination image and more likely to attract domestic and international visitors. Heritage brand effectiveness varies from region to region due to various factors, including differences in conservation, marketing, infrastructure and stakeholder participation. In order to ensure the sustainable management of heritage resources and long-term development of tourism, it is important to preserve the authenticity of the heritage, to involve the local community and to promote the resource in a strategic way. In addition, tourists’ perception shows that they are influenced by the destination choice and overall satisfaction with a destination due to authenticity of cultural experiences, historical importance and opportunities for meaningful cultural interaction. While there are obstacles such as challenges of commercialization, funding, degradation and overfilling, effective branding can contribute to better visitor experiences, and responsible tourism. The study also highlights the need to align digital marketing, heritage interpretation, public-private partnerships and sustainable tourism policies to enhance the competitiveness of the destination and maintain the cultural identity. This research delivers important insights to the policy makers, tourism authorities, the destination management organizations and local communities who are interested in creating competitive and sustainable tourism destinations by studying the relationship between cultural heritage tourism and destination branding. The results add to the existing literature on heritage tourism by providing empirical evidence and recommendations to balance the preservation of heritage with tourism development and to enhance tourism destination brands, in a highly competitive global tourism sector.
