Abstract:

In the age of digitalization, Strong legal frameworks are necessary to protect people’s privacy in the digital age, as data protection has emerged as a top priority. This research highlights the consequences of legislation like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other jurisdiction-specific regulations as it explores the ethical conundrums surrounding data protection via the prism of legal aspects. The examination also includes the difficulties presented by cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, the moral issues raised by privacy as a basic right, and the fine balance that must be struck between innovation and privacy. The study also discusses enforcement, compliance, and worldwide standardization while highlighting significant problems and objections with the state of data protection. This chapter intends to contribute to the ongoing discussion on ethical data practices by offering a thorough review of the legal issues entwined with ethical considerations. It also advocates for striking a healthy balance between innovation and the protection of individual privacy rights.
