Abstract

The global hospitality industry has increasingly embraced sustainability as a core strategic priority in response to growing environmental concerns, social expectations, and regulatory pressures. This study examines the evolving patterns of sustainability practices in the global hospitality sector from a longitudinal perspective, highlighting how these practices have transformed over time across different regions and market segments. The analysis focuses on key dimensions of sustainability, including environmental management, energy and water conservation, waste reduction, community engagement, and responsible supply chain practices. The findings indicate a gradual shift from reactive, compliance-driven initiatives toward proactive and integrated sustainability strategies aligned with long-term business performance and stakeholder value creation. Technological advancements, changing consumer preferences, and global sustainability frameworks have played a significant role in shaping these trends. However, the study also identifies persistent challenges such as cost constraints, lack of standardization, and uneven adoption between developed and developing economies. Overall, the research underscores the importance of sustained commitment, innovation, and policy support in embedding sustainability into the core operations of the hospitality industry.
