Abstract
Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is increasingly being used to support recruitment, employee development, and other human resource activities. These systems can summarize resumes, identify possible skills gaps, retrieve information from organizational databases, and assist managers in preparing interviews. However, they can also produce inaccurate statements, reproduce bias, overlook personal circumstances, and make their recommendations difficult to explain. This chapter examines a Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) framework in which AI supports HR professionals but does not make final employment decisions. The framework includes five stages: data preparation, AI-assisted candidate assessment, automated quality checking, review by human HR professionals, and post-decision monitoring and appeal. Particular attention is given to the role of a Talent Arbitration Board, which reviews questionable recommendations, checks the evidence behind AI-generated statements, and records the reasons for accepting, modifying, or rejecting an AI recommendation. The illustrative scenario reinforces the principle that AI should be treated as a decision-support tool rather than an independent decision-maker. Effective implementation requires reliable data, trained reviewers, transparent procedures, regular bias audits, and clear processes for correcting errors
