Abstract
Digital networked environments have fundamentally reshaped how human beings negotiate social identity, project selfhood, and structure conversational exchanges. Contemporary computer-mediated communication transcends conventional alphabetic text, integrating multimodal semiotic resources including emoji typography, internet memes, orthographic play, and algorithmic curation. Concurrently, ambient intelligent and invisible computing environments increasingly embed natural language processing and ambient tracking directly into physical spaces, blurring the line between human interpersonal discourse and machine-arbitrated interactions. This chapter investigates the sociolinguistic and communicative transformations characterizing this pervasive digital era. Utilizing a mixed-methods empirical pipeline combining corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, and ambient behavioral metrics, the study analyzes discursive shifts across decentralized digital platforms and smart environments. The findings reveal how contextual collapse, linguistic hybridization, and ambient conversational agents alter self-presentation and conversational pragmatics, offering a foundational framework for understanding the sociotechnical convergence of language, identity, and automated computing architectures.
