Abstract
Anxiety disorders are still impacting emotional health, school performance, and social development among adolescents and are receiving growing interest as a psychological intervention for these concerns, especially mindfulness based interventions. This research paper discusses the efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions for symptom reduction in anxiety among adolescents and their possible contribution to psychological well-being. The research approach is mixed-method design in which quantitative information on anxiety levels and intervention outcomes is synthesized with qualitative information using structured interviews with adolescents, parents and mental health professionals. The findings suggest that the benefit of using mindfulness-based interventions is in reducing anxiety symptoms, as emotional regulation, attention, self-awareness, and stress management are all improved. Adolescents who practice mindfulness such as mindful breathing, meditation, body awareness, mindfulness-based cognitive activities show positive results in managing anxious thoughts and emotional reactions. Furthermore, the results suggest a positive association between Mindfulness practice and psychological well-being, though the results may differ based on duration of intervention, engagement with intervention, family support, and availability of trained professionals. The paper also points out obstacles to successful implementation of mindfulness-based interventions such as not knowing about mindfulness, poor attendance, lack of professional training, and challenges of embedding mindfulness in schools and clinical settings. Strategies that engage the school, family and mental health providers can enhance the accessibility and sustainability of these interventions. This study proves that using mindfulness-based interventions to enhance emotional resilience, self-regulation and healthy coping patterns can be a helpful strategy for managing adolescent anxiety disorders.
