Abstract
Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) has become an essential approach for organizations seeking to achieve sustainable performance and competitive advantage. Unlike traditional Human Resource Management, which primarily focuses on administrative activities, SHRM connects human resource practices with the long-term goals and strategies of an organization. Organizational Development (OD), on the other hand, focuses on planned efforts to improve organizational effectiveness, employee capability, culture, and adaptability. The integration of SHRM and OD enables organizations to develop a capable workforce while responding effectively to technological, economic, social, and competitive changes. This chapter examines the concept, objectives, importance, major practices, and strategic role of HRM in organizational development. It also discusses employee engagement, talent management, organizational change, digital transformation, challenges, and emerging trends. The chapter emphasizes that organizations can achieve long-term success when human resources are treated as strategic assets and employees are actively involved in organizational improvement.
