Abstract
Habitat fragmentation is a major driver of biodiversity loss, significantly impacting mammalian species by altering ecosystems, reducing genetic diversity, and increasing vulnerability to environmental stressors. This study explores the ecological consequences of habitat fragmentation on mammalian biodiversity, including species richness, population dynamics, and genetic variability. Fragmentation often results from human activities such as urbanization, deforestation, and agricultural expansion, leading to habitat isolation, resource scarcity, and edge effects that disrupt natural ecological processes. The study also examines the role of habitat corridors, conservation strategies, and landscape connectivity in mitigating these effects. Understanding the complex relationship between habitat fragmentation and mammalian biodiversity is crucial for developing effective conservation policies and sustainable land-use practices.
