Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is rapidly transforming the higher education sector, and its impact on commerce education is increasing day by day. The use of AI-based tools in the teaching, learning, and assessment processes of commerce subjects such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management, business analytics, and entrepreneurship is becoming more widespread. In particular, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and other generative AI tools are providing new opportunities for students to get personalized learning, research assistance, data analysis, problem-solving, and skill development. At the same time, teachers have become more effective in planning curriculum, preparing study materials, facilitating the assessment process, and analyzing student progress. This research article is based on secondary data and information from reliable sources such as published research articles, books, Scopus and UGC CARE journals, UNESCO, OECD, AICTE, UGC, the World Economic Forum, and the National Education Policy of India (NEP 2020), which have been analyzed. The study shows that while AI is making teaching more student-centered, flexible, and effective, it is also creating significant challenges such as academic integrity, plagiarism, data privacy, ethics, the digital divide, and increasing reliance on AI. Therefore, higher education institutions need to focus on clear policies, teacher training, digital infrastructure, and AI literacy to use AI responsibly and ethically. This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the impact of AI in commerce education and provides useful guidance for future research as well as policy decisions.
